Today's blog is all about Colin and his hikoi (walks). that being the case, let's start with a couple of photos showing what it's all in aid of - access to his three sons, and a sorting out of the New Xealand Family court system - or, as Colin says, the anti-family court. Here are Colin with his sons, and with his sons and daughters.

As I have already written earlier here, today Colin is walking from Waihi Court House to Katikati, some 25 kms., starting off at 9:30am.
Colin's third hikoi will be on Saturday 18 August, Katikati across the Kaimai Ranges to Te Aroha.
His 4th hikoi will leave from Tauranga on Friday 31st August, at 2pm from outside the Tauranga Family Court, to walk to the Rotorua Family Court, arriving Monday 10am - some 65 to 85 kilometres depending on the route Colin takes. Incidently, Sunday the 2nd of September is the day of children celebrating their Fathers on 'Fathers day' .
His 5th Hikoi will be from Rotorua Family Court 1st of October to Wellington via SH5 and onto SH1 at Taupo, via all Police stations and Courthouses on the way to Wellington to deliver the petition of signatures to the Beehive which house the Parliament in New Zealand. The route is to be Rotorua to Taupo via SH5 then SH1 all the way except a leg out to Palmerston North and back to Sh1 (at the Bulls intersection). The distance of this walk will be some 474 kilometres, by my reckoning. Quite a challenge, eh? I hope to be a support driver for some if not all of this with Colin.
Recently, there was a very relevant and interesting article in the New Zealand Herald, and I quote here part of that article. The whole article can be accessed at http://www.nzherald.co.nz/relationships/news/article.cfm?c_id=41&objectid=10822835. It is about an interview with Rodney Hide an ex-Member of Parliament, following a heart attack suffered by his father. Rodney's father is alive and doing well, at 85, and Rodney thanks the sterling work of St John Ambulance and Auckland Hospital".
For a somewhat long but very revealing extract from the article, go to the next page.
